Another Hotel Bristol in India

I have only just come across the Bristol Hotel and Resort in Mohali, 13km from the city of Chandigarh in Punjab, northern India. I read that the 3-star hotel was opened around 2008 by a former police officer and today is owned by the same company that has the nearby Park Plaza Zirakpur. The Bristol Hotel and Resort lies in five acres of landscaped gardens with a pool and its restaurants offer Egyptian and 'colonial Indian' food.

House wine for Le Bristol

Being CEO of one of France's most prestigious hotels must be a full-time job, but 62-year-old Didier le Calvez at Le Bristol still finds time to care for Château Clarisse, his vineyard in Bordeaux, according the Wine Spectator.  He purchased the estate, just outside Saint-Émilion, in 2009, and named it Clarisse after his daughter. It is planned to produce 5,000 cases a year – in 15 years time.

Bristol Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Just stumbled across another Bristol Hotel. This one used to be in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur, at the heart of Chinatown. The Latin letters stand out among the Chinese writing. The picture looks as if it was taken in the 1940s. It was posted in Malaysia's online community website, lowyat.net. Today the street is one of the Malaysian city's busiest. Its seafood stalls and night market make it a popular place to shopping shop. I can find no more information about the hotel.

Cuban hotel potential

Starwoods is first off the mark in the new American-friendly Cuba, with a licence to operate three existing hotels, the Inglaterra, Quinta Avenida, and Santa Isabella. Maybe the Hotel Bristol, which once inhabited the building on the corner of Bvd San Rafael, will come back to life.

A greener Bristol in Brussels

The 4-star Bristol Stephanie in Brussels has been been given a 'Green Key' award for its good environmental practices. For example, instead of using chemicals for cleaning, it uses microfibre cloths and ionizers. Flow reducers have been added to shower heads and taps, guests are encouraged to re-use towels and sheets, and a €5 voucher is offered to guests if they do not want their rooms cleaned.
The Bristol Stephanie is part of the Thon Hotel Group, which also owns the Bristol Hotel in Oslo. It has received the Belgian Green Key awards in previous years. Thon Hotel EU, for example, has bee hives on its roofs, which have produced 80kg of honey for guest breakfasts.

New Russian Bristol

It’s always good to come across a new Hotel Bristol. This is just one more to emerge in Russia, at Krasnodar in North Caucasus, 140km from the Black Sea. The city is the capital of an agricultural region with a large output of wine. The three-star Hotel Bristol has 24 rooms and is furnished in classical style with 19th and 20th-century antiques.
